Happy Bank Holiday Peoples!
This weekend I’ll be checking out NaturalNovember in South West London, but last weekend was jam packed with events.
On Saturday I was busy hosting an interview
with many of the UK’s Natural Hair Vloggers & Bloggers as part of the AfroComb Afternoon at The Petrie Museum. I’d like to thank all the ladies who came and took part
in our Afro comb/ natural hair forum, including our very own of Naturalbelle-teammate
Laila-Jean. There were a lot of fabulous ladies from some of my favourite blogs
& youtube channels so I completely enjoyed myself in the company of so many
protagonists of natural hair.
The day included a guided tour of Ancient
Afro Combs the earliest being over 5,000 years old; as well as the opportunity
to share your experiences and opinions on Black Hair and combs, as part of the
Origins Of The Afro Comb Exhibition – a large scale lottery-funded exhibition
being opened in Cambridge next year. To find out more about Origins Of The Afro
Comb Exhibition or how to be involved visit the United KinKdom Blog for updates and contact information.
Due to my hosting duties I was unable to
attend Root-2-Tip’s Hairducation event on the same day, but I have been in
touch with Salem who told me that the event went “really well “and “attendees
left feeling really enlightened, which is my intention” (Salem, Root2Tip). Look out for the next installment of
Hairducation coming soon.
On Sunday I made my way to the Kitchen Treasures Workshop by The Calabash Hub to learn how to make basic skin and hair products from common household
ingredients.
Not only was it a good afternoon but I
found this sort of recession-proof knowledge very valuable. Guest Speakers on
the day included Lola of Lolas Curls Blog and Stacey The Naprika of Youtube channel TheNaprika who both gave very imformative talks. The small size of the group was perfect
for people like me who occasionally needed one-to-one help.
However, by the end of the day I
successfully managed to make a natural face scrub, body scrub, hair oil and
hair butter, and even won a prize.
Now I’m looking forward to Natural November
this weekend - especially having missed it last year. Hopefully see you there!
xoxo
Crystal Afro

I know this was a wonderful experience!
