I was disappointed yet not surprised to see that the biggest names in Paris fashion week were vastly lacking in the diversity on the runway, Chanel used Joan smalls, Valentino used Jourdan Dunn, YSL used Nyasha Matonhodze, whereas Alexander McQueen used no models of colour(just a small selection of houses that lacked diversity this season) this is way below the dismal average of 2-3 per show
Fashion houses like Chanel, Valentino and the like should be leading the way in terms of diversity, surely these 'tastemakers' should be showing the diversity within the industry? not highlighting its elitist views.
This does nothing to dissuade those who believe that the fashion industry is racist or at the least prejudice
It's not like there are not enough to choose from Anais, Joan, Ataui, Ajak, Fatima, Jasmine, Jourdan, Chanel, Ajuma, Zhang, Xiao......the list goes on and on
For a mix of diversity in fashion visit BEAUTY IS DIVERSE
Perhaps some fashion bigwigs should take a look too!
